IUCN WCC 2016

In September 2016, members of the IWBN participated in the IUCN World Conservation Congress that was hosted in Hawaiʻi on the island of Oʻahu.

While in Hawaiʻi, the IWBN was also hosted by the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Hawaiʻinuiākea School of Hawaiian Knowledge.  On Friday, September 2, 2016, a presentation and reception to meet the women was held at Kamakakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies.  Each of the women shared a little about the work that they are doing in their communities.

On September 6, the IWBN members were also hosted in the moku of Waiʻanae by community partners- KS Kapua, INPEACE, Maʻo Farms, and UH Mānoa Hawaiʻinuiākea School of Hawaiian Knowledge.  The IWBN members spoke at the Hulikoʻa Kaiāulu Scholar Series at the KS Maʻili Learning Center.

The IWBN also visited a Hawaiian Language Immersion School called Ke Kula ʻo Samuel M. Kamakau located in Kāneʻohe, Oʻahu.
